Proper maintenance of your spinning wheel’s flyer is crucial for smooth operation. To oil the flyer of your Sidekick, Ladybug, or Matchless spinning wheel, follow these simple steps:
- Begin by wiping off any old oil and debris from the flyer.
- Apply a few drops of oil on the shaft where the bobbin bearings sit.
- Place the bobbin on the flyer. For double drive, ensure the small flange is closest to the whorl. For scotch tension, position the large flange closest to the whorl.
- Slide the whorl onto the flyer and apply oil to the tips of the flyer.
- We recommend oiling your flyer whenever you change bobbins. If some time has passed since you last used your wheel, it may be beneficial to reapply a bit of oil.
- For bulky bobbins, you may need to apply additional oil halfway through the bobbin.
